Wonderful tour sweeping across thousands of years of history from the Hill of Tara dating from prehistoric times the magnificent Norman castle at Trim dating from 12the Century. The tour incorporates early Irish Monastic settlements at Bective Abbey and Monasterboice with its magnificent High Crosses. Our tour guide Jim had an amazing wealth of history and which acted as a fantastic backdrop to the sites visited relating stories from ancient mythology to the Cromwellian invasion and the siege of Drogheda which is also visited. The Church of St Peters in Drogheda is an architectural gem dating from the 18th Century, built in French Gothic Revival Style and houses the head of St Oliver Plunket and a relic of the true cross. Our group was international and people got to know each other on the day as Rabbies also hosted an excellent lunch and coffee stop in Drogheda for the group. Overall a great day out and good value for money. An ideal trip if you only have a short time in Dublin and want to see the ancient sites in the beautiful Royal County of Meath.
